Announcement for Admission to the Post-Graduate Degree Programme in Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship, 2007-2009
The two-year, full time Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship aims at grooming entrepreneurs with a social vision-generating wealth by expanding livelihoods and sustainable development. The multidisciplinary programme will draw from management, social development, economics, innovation and entrepreneurship, bringing together over 60 years of institutional excellence of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in management, social development and research.
Taught by social scientists, management experts, development professionals and entrepreneurs themselves, the programme will blend cutting edge theory with innovative field based learning including internships and field-placements. The focus of the programme will include the development, management and leadership of social enterprises. Graduates are expected to be absorbed in the fast-growing profit and non-profit entrepreneurial sectors.
The total number of seats available for the programme, including and observing the reservation norms of the Government of India are 15.
Eligibility:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with minimum aggregate marks of 50% (40% for SC/ST) or equivalent grade from a recognized University. Those completing their final year Bachelor’s Degree examination by July 31, 2007 are eligible to apply, provided they have obtained the required minimum percentage of marks specified above.

• By sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn) of the Institute along with a Demand Draft for Rs.750/- drawn in favour of Registrar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai; or
• By downloading the form from Welcome to Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India. (http://www.tiss.edu) and submitting it with the processing fee of Rs.750/- to be paid at the Institute cash counter or by a Demand Draft; or
• From the Cash Counter at TISS, Mumbai against the cash payment of Rs.750/-
Unemployed SC/ST candidates, whose parents/guardian’s income were Rupees One Lakh or below for financial year 2006-2007 can obtain the application from free of cost. They can download the form from website: Welcome to Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India. (http://www.tiss.edu) and submit it along with a true copy of Caste/ Tribe Certificate and the Income Certificate or they can send request letter along with a true copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate, Income Certificate and self-addressed cloth lined envelope (20 cm×28 cm) to the Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn) of the Institute.
Reservations:
Government of India norms applicable for admission of SC/ST/OBC, Persons with Disability (PWD) and International Students will be followed.
